For the Golden Age of the British Novel
We preserve the cultural heritage of the Golden Age of the Great British novel, by adapting these 19th and early 18th century novels for the screen.
In all of these activities, probity will be assured by the active involvement of the trustees.
Fundraising is overseen by the Fundraising Trustee and carried out by him / her togther with the fundraising committees (in the UK and the USA). 'Professional Fundraisers' will also be engaged, and donations sought. The committees will pursue any means compatible with our charitable status.
Our fundraising has two objectives:
The charity will re-cycle any income raised by each film into 'packaging' subsequent films, and, with each film itself, will attempt to raise funds through pre-sales and sales. As the funds grow, the charity will be able to engage 'name' actors, pay the expenses of volunteers, and, eventually, pay professional wages to the cast and crew. All such disbursements are aimed at improving the quality of our productions.
The charity will license (for pepper-corn rates, when licensing from a trustee) from the 'draft-one' writers, the rights to use the screenplays of these novels. Our (initially voluntary) writers will revise these first drafts to top professional standards.
We will make at least one movie each year. The schedules show how we will be able to make more as our organisation grows.
Obviously, finance for these films will not be raised immediately upon our charity's inception. Thus, certainly the first, and probably the second feature will be made on a volunteer / 'nano-budget' basis. This, of course, has the advantage that at least one feature will be made each year, regardless. We intend to move from nano-budget, however, through micro level to 'Low budget' level. We do not see ourselves as making these features in the medium to high budget ranges, unless urgently induced to do so, by demand.
We will use period British music in our adaptations, together with period British art.
Overseen by the the Marketing Trustee who will do the work in tandem with the marketing committees (in the UK and the USA), as well as other relevant trustees.
The committees will help raise money to be used in subsequent films
PBLF's sale agent trustee will be finding a domestic distributor and a film sales agent (for the rest of the world) for each feature film.
